I was always fascinated by John Lennon’s quote: “Living is easy with eyes closed.” I interpreted it to mean that you don’t have to understand much if you are willing to follow the ranting’s of the crowd.  However, what I have come to discover is that there are a million different interpretations about that simple sentence. John Lennon didn’t want people trying to decode and give power and meaning to his words, because they were not in his mind when he wrote them or understood from where his inspiration came. If you read the lyrics to  “Strawberry Fields Forever”, it’s easy to believe he meant it was easier to not give a damn.

“Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see,
it’s getting hard to be someone
but it all works out,
it doesn’t matter much to me.”

The problem with that meaning is it leads some to believe ignorance is bliss. If you walk around and protest with your eyes closed, you can never convince anyone of anything, because you have no understanding. If you choose to believe other’s realities without choosing to understand both sides ,then you are ignorant. Ignorance is not bliss!

The real inspiration behind that song, and it took John a long time to tell it, was his profound beginning in Liverpool, England. He was born on October 9, 1940 during a German air raid in World War II. Life was not easy, they were fighting a war they had to believe in .

It’s easy for a college professor to cram his ideologies into the young minds of his students when he is probably a generation or two away from the atrocities of that War.  I was a Baby Boomer, born to parents who had suffered through the war and fearful of the next one annihilating us all. I didn’t suffer their pain, but I learned from it.

I never jumped on the bandwagon of any political candidate because my parents did or my neighbors or anyone else did.  It was more important that I learn first had what their agenda was or the way they interpreted the Constitution, and how their policies would affect me or generations to come. I was taught to feel blessed that I lived in a country where I had a vote, but that my vote was also a huge responsibility. Voting with my eyes closed, was irresponsible.

The first thing that tips me off about shut-eyed people is the hate they spew. If they understood anything about globalism, whom the liberal democrats and socialist push, they would open their eyes and see that it is their worst nightmare.

I challenge you to learn this for yourself. If you only listen to the main stream media, you might just as well glue your eyes permanently shut, and if your party wins, take the credit or the shame. I don’t listen to one side, I weigh them both. I study the issues and if I don’t understand them, I study until I do. I am not a low information voter. It might be easier as John Lennon put it to just live with your eyes closed, and if you are among the haters who do, there’s probably not a word to convince you differently.

Hate is your platform, this is how I recognize you. Only hate can further the evil that the globalists and libs want to convince you as truth. Flip between main stream and conservatives stations, if you are not inclined to study, at least try to weigh both sides and understand the issues.

I was never a fan of President Trump before he ran for President. I do not consider him a magnificent speaker, I think he’s made a few blunders in his personal life, as we all have… come on now you know it’s the truth, neither you nor I are perfect. However, he campaigned on the issues  I needed to see carried out. If you try to convince me to dishonor him because you shared a picture of him on Facebook in his underwear, then you have just proven you are a closed-eyed hater, nothing more.

Division, violence and hate is not what the constitution stands for. The constitution is for the American people and their rights, not the politicians. Good old Benjamin Franklin said, “We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.” And to quote Martin Luther King, he said, “Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Obama and Hillary embraced a global government, mostly for personal gain, and the more these wealth-crazed freaks tried to pack into nice little packages and send overseas, the more they cut into American’s wages by importing “migrants” both legal and illegal who have nothing in common with our culture or anything else. They are trained to deride those that object calling them racists, Nazi’s and white privilege. For the American working class, globalism has meant retreat, defeat and dislocation. But with eyes open, you can recognize their tactics as nothing more than to knock America off their high successful horses and bring them to the level of all third world countries. And there we are…we are poorer and the globalist elites are richer and more ruthless, no longer trying to convince us that we, the menial little peasants, matter a bit.

But to the horror of hate mongers like George Soros, Obama, The Clintons, China, Russia and other countries with the help of President Trump we refuse to keep our eyes closed and plan on bulldozing straight over their evil carcasses and pave the way for all Americans to enjoy the progress that our constitution intended for us to have.

Those who constantly spew hate to derail the right and slam “the rich” while ignorantly embracing globalism fail to realize that the global financiers, global media and global corporations are solidly behind this absurd one-world movement of free trade, open borders and politically correct thinking.

This is the most absurd of all: The global rich are backing this movement that on the surface demonizes “the rich” yet all the while laughing at all you ignorant protesters, followers of hate, riots and name calling, all the while becoming richer and more powerful, but if anyone says anything about it, they only scream louder that you are a Nazi. Trust me, you have no clue what a Nazi was if you buy it, and if you buy it, you are blindly singing their song. If George Soros’s or Hateful Whoopi Goldberg cared so much about the middle class, or the poor, why aren’t they sharing their millions with everyone? If is smells fishy, it’s probably fish.

To quote John Lennon again: “I can’t wake you up. You can wake you up. I can’t cure you. You can cure you.”

Teaching good values to new generations is often easier said than done, because it takes time and dedication amidst an ever changing society in which new rules are being made everyday  as to how we define morality.

We have so many outside influences  that we would never have imagined possible when I was a child in the sixties.  The entertainment industry with all the movies, television , video games and music are literally raising our children for us , and the sad part is many parents are allowing it . Many themselves  were not taught proper values  because the Me generation of parents raised in the sixties and seventies were short changed.  Both parents started working, women’s lib  became a household word and while post Vietnam children became parents, their reference point for values and what represented a good life somehow got lost in material things, money, spiritual intolerance and a blatant disrespect for marriage and families. We rapidly turned into a throw away self centered society.

What are moral values? To name a few: kindness, honesty, courage, self-discipline, compassion, generosity, dependability and integrity.  I was always taught that to instill these kinds of values in children will help lay the foundation for them to become good citizens, good parents and to shield them from negative societal influences.

It really doesn’t matter how we label morality or how we view the world, honesty is honesty, integrity is integrity , compassion is godly, and service is unselfish…you get the point!  The world and universe has a way of bringing it to justice if we choose to think it doesn’t matter.  When we live as if there are no moral rules, our lives become harder to navigate, our emotions more painful and life more difficult to live.  Our spirits will always demand that we come back to the center of decency of character, or we will simply suffer the consequences.

If we can teach our youth how to navigate this world with moral integrity, we give them the armor they need to face most of the moral conundrums that they will certainly be faced with in this life. If we don’t teach them, society will certainly fill the void and that void will always produce undesirable outcomes.

One of the most important things we can do is to model good values. In other words actions certainly do speak louder than words. If you want your children to exhibit values like honesty, then you need to show these qualities yourself.

I am continually shocked at what is going on in the political arena and how so many people think it’s no big deal to see a candidate like Hillary Clinton with her terrible history of dishonesty and self centered motives for power and money  and still think she would make a good leader.

What are we teaching our children? It’s okay to be dishonest? It’s okay to be intolerant of people?  It’s okay to use others for the sake of your  financial wealth?  What are we saying if we turn a blind eye to these things, yet we tell our youth the opposite?  It is morally wrong to endorse someone  you know has shown such careless behavior for the sake of power. It’s a big discrepancy between what you say and what you do, if your kids know that just once you can make an exception for someone who is completely void of a moral compass.

Talk about the candidates and what you value about their positions and what you don’t like about them and why it is important that you are voting for them. Including them in the conversation  is a good way to teach them to be careful and to value their country enough to care about who becomes the leader. But before that, you need to teach them about the qualities that make a good leader.

If you teach you children that they are accountable for their behavior and mistakes yet do not hold  accountable those you vote for, what are you teaching them?  Good communication is the bottom line as you try to lead them to a point where they are capable of making good moral choices in their life. It all takes time, because building a good human being that can make good choices, contribute to society and pass the baton to another generation is a noble and worthy calling.  Our nations future, our children, is our most valuable asset.  None of us will live forever and leaving an honorable trust worthy generation is the best footprint we can leave behind.

Any great nation or civilized community used to know without waiver that honoring the generations that preceded them was part of the anchor that would continue to hold them up. As each person traveled their life’s journey and learned valuable lessons, they were passed down so future generations could benefit from them and not have to continually reinvent the wheel.  The price was never cheap for the miraculous strides that have been made in the medical profession, technology fields or the freedom that some foolishly believe came so easy.

There is a sadness  in the air for those individuals who have lost sight or been so far removed from having to struggle that they take for granted what could so easily be lost if they continue to blind themselves to the things that matter, like the constitution, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and due process of law.

I was a child that was born in the Baby Boomer era, that time after World War II, when our soldiers came home with the victory of knowing that they were free to start a family, buy a home and live their passions. As a child in that era, we used to be able to run and play until it got dark outside and our parents didn’t worry that we had been kidnapped. They actually believed that independence was good for us.  They didn’t worry if we drank out of the garden hose, or climbed trees and actually went into a neighbors house for a drink of Kool-Aid. Most kids didn’t know what drugs were, that is nothing more than aspirin.  So we lived believing that if something went wrong, God or our Parents could make it right.

Are we to live in the past? Of course not, but we are not to leave it behind either. A responsible society should add to the good things and let go of the bad.

The Baby Boomer generation is perhaps the largest single generation that has lived in this country.  We have been in on the ground floor of some of man’s greatest strides. We had Steve Jobs, and look what the world is like today because of him.

We probably understand many more things about our health than most , because we knew what it was like to live without having to consume Genetically Modified Foods. If we ate white bread it probably didn’t kill us because it was at least bread made with wheat that wasn’t fiddled with so much.

Boomer’s everywhere, I urge you to stand up for your country, your hero’s, and the youth so they can learn from your wisdom, your example and your faith.  We still have a lot of work to do!
